Schengen countries & passport rules

Every Schengen country shares one UK passport rule — here's what it is and where it applies.

The Schengen passport rule

For the whole Schengen area, your UK passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the day you leave and have been issued less than 10 years before you arrive. You can also stay at most 90 days in any 180-day period — work yours out with the Schengen 90/180 calculator.

Biometric checks are changing too: see EES & ETIAS for UK travellers.
